LOOKS BY MANCHESTER FASHION INSTITUTE

Spinningfields has partnered with Manchester Fashion Institute to present an inspiring FREE outdoor exhibition, LOOKS, showcasing innovative student work from across fashion disciplines. This annual collaborative project provides second-year students with hands-on experience in industry-based creative practices, celebrating interdisciplinary collaboration and emerging talent.

Selected garments from BA (Hons) Fashion and BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Technology students have been captured by BA (Hons) Fashion Art Direction students through styling, casting, art direction and image-making, resulting in a striking series of lookbook images. All images have been produced, shot and designed entirely by students. 

THIS FREE EXHIBITION WILL BE ON DISPLAY IN CROWN SQUARE FROM 3 APRIL

Over the past two years, their community of practice has expanded to include students from Manchester School of Art’s Storehouse Editions, who have re-made, re-mixed and re-modelled selected images as an extension of the project’s outcomes.

In the coming weeks, the LOOKS exhibition will take over Spinningfields with a large-scale outdoor gallery exhibition in Crown Square, leading up to The Avenue. This public showcase will celebrate the body of student work and highlight the power of collaboration across the student experience.

A GUIDED INSIGHT INTO THE ARTISTS’ WORK

On Thursday 3 April at 6pm, there will be a guided external walk-around led by Manchester Metropolitan University, where students will discuss their work and share insights into the creative process behind the project.
