MANCHESTER JAZZ FESTIVAL’S PIANO TRAIL IS BACK
Get ready, Manchester – manchester jazz festival (mjf) is back this May, celebrating an incredible 30 years of live music, creativity and community spirit. From 16–25 May 2025, the city will come alive with 10 days of exciting performances from some of the best contemporary jazz artists and rising stars from across the North.
As Manchester’s longest-running music festival, mjf has become a key part of the city’s cultural calendar – and this year’s 30th anniversary edition promises to be extra special.
Of course, it wouldn’t be mjf without the beloved piano trail competition. Back for 2025, manchester jazz festival and Forsyth Music Shop have teamed up once again to uncover Manchester’s hidden musical talents with the mjf2025 piano trail competition.
Piano Trail Competition
The mjf piano trail competition is delivered in partnership with the world-renowned Forsyth Music Shop of Deansgate and Yamaha pianos and is part of manchester jazz festival’s 3 anniversary celebrations (mjf2025) which will take place at 12 venues across the city from 16 – 25 May 2025.
Alongside the piano trail itself, there will also be two bespoke piano trail walking tours available, run by Free Manchester Walking Tours (FMWT), on the 17 and 18 May (£10 per adult, children go free) and live performances at some of the pianos on the trail. More information to be announced soon.

HOW TO ENTER THE COMPETITION
From 20 March – 31 May, the mjf piano trail competition encourages everyone to get creative and just have fun and for those who want to take part, there’s a chance to enter a competition to win a Yamaha digital piano and many more prizes!
PRIZES
The prizes up for grabs so far are:
