2024 – A YEAR IN SPINNINGFIELDS

SPINNINGFIELDS – A LOOK BACK ON 2024

As we say hello to 2025, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the incredible year that 2024 was for Spinningfields. As Manchester’s premium work and lifestyle destination, Spinningfields continued to evolve and diversify throughout 2024; redefining the districts key position in the heart of the city.

Let’s take a look back on the key moments that defined Spinningfields last year:

Sustainability & Innovation

Spinningfields proudly received the prestigious Green Flag Award, an international quality mark for parks and green spaces. This recognition places Spinningfields alongside iconic locations like the Gardens of Versailles and Hyde Park. The judges awarded a remarkable 94% score, commending the estate’s “brilliant quality and management, vibrant visitor attractions, and commitment to sustainability”. They noted the estate’s intelligent design, high horticultural standards, and strong night time economy. As a rare recipient of this award for a multi-use space, Spinningfields is honoured to be internationally recognised and remains dedicated to advancing its sustainability efforts in 2025.

Culture & Creativity

With collaborations between local artists, galleries and businesses, 2024 saw Spinningfields create a vibrant destination for art and culture lovers. Partnering with Smolensky Gallery to present an energetic outdoor art exhibition, titled ‘OTHER,’ curated by gallery owner Joe Wilson. The free showcase featured 16 thought-provoking artworks by five talented Manchester-based artists: Smart Barnett, Florence Burns, Jez Dolan, Asche Escher, and Evita Ziemele. Looking ahead to 2025, even more exciting collaborations and installations are in the works, promising to celebrate and spotlight Manchester’s incredible artistic talent right in the heart of Spinningfields.

Spinningfields also proudly unveiled Manchester’s very own Paddington statue marking our place on the exciting new Paddington Visits trail in collaboration with STUDIOCANAL. The statue is one of 23 located across the UK and will be in the neighbourhood throughout 2025 providing a fantastic opportunity for fans of all ages to explore the magic of Paddington together and create lasting memories with a true national treasure.

Style & Service

Condé Nast Traveller unveiled the top places to go in the UK and Ireland and Spinningfields made the coveted list! In the midst of Manchester’s cultural renaissance, our neighbourhood takes centre stage with this well-deserved recognition and it’s no surprise with some of the most recognisable venues in the UK calling Spinningfields home. We also welcomed some amazing new venues including ATOMECA Louis and Habbibi as well as luxury hair salon Vincenzo Fossella.

Community & Connectivity

What makes Spinningfields truly special is its strong sense of community. In 2024, the neighbourhood fostered a sense of togetherness through charity fundraisers and community led projects to the new Spinningfields App and the 2024 Paris Olympics Official Fan Zone.

Back in July we kicked off the countdown to the Olympics Opening Ceremony with Spinningfields Sports Day. Businesses swapped briefcases for batons and suits for sweatbands, diving into 10 exhilarating races. We were honoured to have esteemed Team GB athlete Sally Walton, bronze medallist in hockey from the 2012 London Olympics, join us. Sally delivered an inspiring motivational speech, led the warm-up and presented medals to our sports day participants.

In September, Spinningfields hosted a Charity Fire Walk on World Cancer Research Day, bringing together 10 teams who raised £5000 for The Christie Chairty. This exciting community-driven event perfectly exemplified how Spinningfields supports a healthy work-life balance while fostering a sense of connection and purpose. Spinningfields remains committed to creating unique and engaging experiences for its occupiers, residents and visitors alike.

Looking Forward

As we move into the new year, the future of Spinningfields will continue to blend the best of business, culture and community. Plans for new retailers, more green initiatives and even more events promise to keep the area buzzing with activity. And, we are delighted to unveil the reimaging of 4 Hardman Square with its expansive 54000sqft being transformed into vibrant and sustainable workspace with community and collaboration at its core.

Following on from our refreshed branding which marks a sophisticated evolution for Spinningfields, modernising our aesthetic, realigning our mission and adapting to market changes we will continue as a renowned hive of activity for prestigious events and partnerships throughout 2025.

Here’s to more growth, more innovation and more unforgettable moments in the heart of Manchester!
